Kase sets goals
The National – Monday, August 1st 2011
NEWLY-appointed acting secretary for Health, Pascoe Kase said one of his key priorities would be to focus on improving and strengthening the workforce capacity in the health sector.
He said the department should work with and support training institutions and other relevant agencies by creating positions within the sector.
After the announcement of his appointment by Health and HIV/AIDS Minister Sasa Zibe last Monday, Kase said he would work with the Zibe and rest of the health team to implement health programmes and policies in line with the national health plan.
He said that included developing human resource, seeking an efficient way to deal with medical (drug) supplies issues, continue with the roll-out programme of the provincial health authorities, setting up of community health posts and ensuring that they became a reality.
“Partnership with the government, churches, community and development partners are important,” Kase said
Deputy Health secretary Dr Paison Dakulala praised the government for appointing Kase as acting health secretary.
He said the appointment was “divine intervention” especially at a time when the department was undergoing many changes.
Dakulala said the management and staff would support Kase.
