Kato Ottio a league star

Letters

On behalf of my family and myself, I would like to send my heartfelt sorrow and sincere condolences to the mother of late Kato Ottio, his immediate family members and the Koiari people.
He was such a wonderful person and a young rugby league star whose young life has just been taken away so soon.
He was one of the products of the Dobo Warriors RLFC in the Port Moresby Rugby League competition, which I played for and captained for five seasons from 2001 to 2005. I had a keen interest in his football carrier and followed it closely through the media, even when he was playing with the Canberra Raiders’ feeder club, the Mounties, in the NSW Cup competition.
Dobo Warriors RLFC has also produced some very good players in the likes of Thomas Ninkama, Aaron Mulunga,Leonard Ottmar,Abraham Yobale, Bobby Yakopa, Enosi Gewa,( one of the favourite sons of Koiari,) to name a few, who made it through the Port Moresby Vipers and also the Kumuls. The late Kato Ottio was no exception and stood tall amongst the rest.
I would like to commend those who introduced him into the rugby league World and mentored him through his short career.
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. May his young soul rest in peace.
