Kaupa Cup to cut teams

THE Kaupa Cup sports competition is set to cut defaulting teams heading into the second half of its season.
League interim chairman Ben Marme said he would reduce the 52 teams, who play rugby league and soccer, to 13 if registration fees were not paid.
“Out of 52 teams, only five teams are eligible as they completed the fees and eight have made part payment,” Marme said.
“We will reduce this competition to 13 sides if no payments are made,” Marme said.
He said 25 men’s rugby league sides had not paid the affiliation fees and would be cut this week if no payment was made.
