TURUBU local level government president David Kausik arrived with his supporters in a convoy of more than 20 vehicles to file his nomination in Wewak, East Sepik.

Flanked by 21 sitting councillors, the two-term president was escorted into the Wewak council chambers by the Yamben village singsing group.

The Putanda community from inland Turubu paid his K200 nomination fee.

Kausik thanked the people of Turubu for their support.

“I welcome those who will contest the president seat but let me tell you that there is no time for politics.

“It is now time for political development and you must choose the right president to see service and development in our LLG area,” he said.

“I promise that this is the last time I will defend my seat. So you make the right choice now to make a difference for the people of Turubu tomorrow.”

He said he had major projects such as the relocation of Turubu LLG and administration office from Wewak to Tumarau and the creation of a growth centre there, water and sanitation, power extension and other impact projects to complete.

President of the Wewak rural LLG Francis Hevu was also nominated to defend his seat, while Mathew Wangi has been nominated to contest the town mayor’s seat.
