Gulf Governor Havila Kavo will be filing an application for a judicial review in the National Court regarding his committal to stand trial on a misappropriation charge.
Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika adjourned Kavo’s trial to Monday for further mention and extended his K5000 bail.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate John Kaumi had found enough evidence to commit Kavo to trial.
Sir Gibbs said the trial would continue after their judicial review was determined.
Kavo’s co-accused Mika Akia and Willie Simoi filed a judicial review application which was expected to be heard tomorrow.
Sir Gibbs instructed Kavo to file his application quickly.
Kavo appeared in court on Monday with his lawyer Abraham Kumbari and sought the adjournment for the trial.
He was committed to stand trial at the National Court on June 9.
Kavo was charged with misappropriating K783,195.70 belonging to the Gulf government last year.
