Gulf Governor Havila Kavo, facing a charge of misappropriation, appeared before the Waigani Committal Court for a ruling yesterday.
Magistrate John Kaumi said he considered Kavo’s nine-page statement in which he told the court last Friday that the allegation against him was “politically motivated”.
Kaumi said he was not the right person to find Kavo guilty or not guilty.
He said Kavo’s innocence was not to be proven at the Committal Court.
“There is sufficient evidence here.
“So the case will be committed to the National Court,” Kaumi said in his ruling.
Kavo will appear at the National Court on June 20 for listings in preparation for his trial.
