KAWASO pulled off a five-set marathon 27-25, 20-25, 21-25, 25-21 and 15-9 over Scorpions to register their first three points in the NCD volleyball men’s premier division competition.
The competition, sponsored by the PNG Nambawan Trophy Haus, set off the season proper at the Taurama Leisure Centre volleyball courts last Saturday.
Two PNG representatives, Scorpion’s Ula Gima and Kawaso’s George David featured prominently for their sides.
The duo seemed to be in control of their sides’ offence and was hungry to avenge each other at the net but they had to rely on their setters for the goods.
Even their hitters were kept busy trying to find the gaps for their deadly spikes but any attempts were denied with brilliant cover in the front and back courts as they continued their bitter challenges.
