Keleiruna FC are taking the Port Moresby Soccer Association’s Premier League by storm, beating University Inter FC 2-0 at Bisini on Sunday to make it four straight wins.
The Central team have so far defeated Cosmos FC, FC Genesis, PS Ruts and University Inter FC and will meet defending champions Mungkas FC this weekend in the top-of-the-table clash to determine who sits at the summit as the race to be crowned champions heats up.
University goalkeeper Albert Mesulam was the hero of the day, saving what would have been a thrashing.
His one-on-one stops on a number of occasions denied more goals for Keleiruna.
A long ball from the midfield saw striker Karo Ila slotting home the first goal in the 30th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Minutes into the second half, Ila made no mistake to slam home his second and seal the match for the Central outfit.
In the other matches on Saturday, FC Genesis belted Maclarens FC 4-0, and Mungkas outsmarted a young PS Ruts outfit 2-0.
Cosmos FC were on a bye.
Association vice-president Joseph Ealedona said with the support of National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop to the tune of K100,000, things would only get better with discussions soon to be finalised for the main games to be televised on delayed broadcast by NBCTV.
“We will introduce the Women’s Premier League next year while we continue to improve the lower divisions to prepare them for the promotion and relegation process,” Ealedona said.
