Enga Mioks chairman Philip Kepson has commended his players for securing the Digicel Cup minor premiership and making it to the grand final after 18 years.
“We have waited patiently for the last 18 years and now our loyalty, dedication and commitment have paid off,” Kepson said.
“The last time the Mioks won a grand final was in 2000.
“Luckily, we made it through to the grand final this year.”
Kepson said the club was the provincial government’s initiative headed by Governor Sir Peter Ipatas to unite Enga.
“We have not only united our fellow Engans but other provinces through the Digicel Cup and the Ipatas Cup concept,” he said.
Kepson said he was expecting a good turnout for the grand final at the National Football Stadium on Sunday.
“We have good support in Port Moresby, especially from the Paga Panthers because we have four players from the club playing with the Mioks,” he said.
“We are expecting all the Engans living in Port Moresby to come and support the team.”
The Mioks arrive in Port Moresby on Friday to finalise preparations for the decider against an equally determined Goroka Lahanis outfit.
