KEREVAT National High School resumed classes on Monday but the school will be without a governing council until May.
Deputy Secretary for Education Damien Rapase, who visited the school recently to address staff, said the governing council was still missing.
He said nominations for governing council members were still in progress.
“We will not engage old members of previous councils.
At the end of May this school will have a new council,” he said.
Rapase said the National Education board would meet in May to endorse the new governing council.
He said in the meantime all decisions and roles and responsibilities would be carried out by the new principal, Ray Rieme Alo.
Rapase said despite having a new governing council in place at Kerevat, “the management committee operating in NCD will ensure decisions made at the school are in line with policies that govern the school”.
He said the management committee had confidence in the new school management and its new leadership to restore the school with transparency and accountability.
