KEROWAGI district in Chimbu is taking a bottom-up approach in its infrastructure development.
Earth moving machines were building roads from the back and slowly moving towards the main Highlands Highway.
MP Bari Palma said on Friday that roads now under construction were Baglkagl-Nogar, Kamataru-Koronigle, Duramug-Neregaima, and Duramug-Kup.
He said Kerowagi-Dona Road, and Ganigle-Morma-Kewamugl would be funded soon.
Palma said these roads would be completed before September.
This was to allow pastors from all over the country to travel to Kewamugl Lutheran High School for the 13th national pastors’ conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG.
Palma said the Kerowagi-Boko Kawa Road, built by late Joe Dorpar, also needed maintenance and major upgrading which he would also fund.
He said the district also fixed many old bridges built during the colonial era.
Palma said over the years, many people living in remote areas were deprived of government services because of no roads.
“I am now taking a different approach to start at the back and come to the front, where other Government services are located and easily accessible by people,” he said.
