ELECTED leaders must deliver services that aim at improving the lives of people, a community leader says.
Gigmai Kar, a community leader from Kendine village, Kerowagi district, said this when his people presented food items to Chimbu Governor Fr John Garia last Saturday.
The foodstuffs were presented to acknowledge Garia’s leadership since he became governor.
“We, the people of Gena-Waugla, are happy with Garia because he has shown what a true leader he is by ensuring that every pocket of the province is served,” Kar said.
Ward six councillor Yer Komdi said one of the instances of Garia’s leadership could be seen in the amount of money he provided for roads in the area.
He said the Garia administration had been consistently funding this road and that had made it easier for his people to travel from their villages to towns with their produce.
The people thanked provincial administrator Joe Kunda Naur for his work in ensuring that the public service machinery functioned well.
The people asked for a high school to be built and Kunda said that would be looked at next year.
Kunda said Chimbu had already proven to the nation its capability as the number one province in service delivery.
But, he said, that position could be maintained only through cooperation by the people and the government.
He thanked the people for acknowledging Garia for his leadership and for the food they provided.
