Keyboard warriors: Think before you post

Letters

ALLOW me to vent my frustration over these social media “keyboard warriors”.
Keyboard warriors are increasing due to the popularity of social media and this comes with great curiosity and concern about the accuracy and reliability of the information they’re quick to post.
Great journalists do not just publish stories – they research and base their stories on facts and evidence.
Any assumption made must have concrete evidence to support it, so that the reader will understand and know that the writer knows what he or she is talking about.
To folks who continue to maintain a nonsensical argument that political parties play no part in service delivery in PNG, let me say this: Political parties form governments – not individual MPs.
Major development initiatives are driven by the policies of the dominant party forming government with its coalition partners.
In essence, this means that political parties are responsible for developing policies that drive development and service delivery in the country.
My advice to all the great keyboard warriors in PNG with your expensive smartphones, do yourselves some justice and at least try to be smart.
It is one thing to write and publish stories, it is another thing when that story is baseless, senseless, inaccurate and just plain thoughtless.
