Khay in court

Lae News, Normal

LAE city lord mayor James Khay appeared in the committal court yesterday on a charge of breaching peace.  Khay, 48, from Mani village, Kamtai sub-district, Simbu province, was accused of using threatening language against another man.
However, court files did not state the place and the date of the alleged offence.
Police senior detective Andrew Katawuk had charged Khay last Friday.
According to police prosecution filed yesterday, Khay had told one Samson Makuku, “I will kill you with my gun”.
According to police, he had breached section 7 of the Summary Offences Act.
Khay appeared before Magistrate Posain Poloh yesterday morning for mention.
Mr Poloh disqualified himself and adjourned the case to Oct 28  “to be heard by another magistrate” because he knows Khay “as the lord mayor of Lae”.
