THE Kibil Health Centre on the Duke of York Isles, East New Britain province, will undergo a major refurbishment after years of neglect.
The centre serves more than 14,000 people.
Kokopo MP and Minister for Communication and Information Patrick Tammur handed a cheque for K750,000 for the project to the president of the Duke of York LLG over the weekend.
The money is from Mr Tammur’s K10 million district services inprovement programme (DSIP) funds.
Mr Tammur said he sympathised with the people who lacked basic Government services and promised to look into their needs.
He said clearance work had already begun on a new growth centre at Ramoina and that scoping work for the proposed re-development of the island’s ring road had also been completed.
