THE PNG Kickboxing Federation has deferred its world title kickboxing show billed as PNG’s Best of the Best v Rest of the World 3 initially scheduled for Sept 26.
The show will now take place on Dec 9.
The decision was made after a meeting last week with Vice Minister for Sports Wesley Raminai.
Raminai affirmed his ministry’s support of the event but said with Apec on next month the kickboxing show would need to held later in the year.
Raminai said kickboxing was a sport that had contributed to promoting ther country and he was pleased to support it.
Raminai said his ministry would focus on the sports that developed Papua New Guinean’s natural strengths and instilled disciplined and other positive values.
PNG Kickboxing Federation president Stanley Nandex thanked Raminai for his committment to kickboxing.
Nandex cautioned groups from staging unsanctioned kickboxing saying the sport needed to be better regulated.
