LEE Henry Garap’s scheduled World Kick Boxing Federation Muaythai welterweight title fight between against Thailand’s Rangsan Poonsang will take place on Friday, Aug 9.

This is because of a delay in Poonsang’s getting visa clearance.

This was confirmed by Garap on Wednesday.

Garap said Poonsang and another Thai fighter could not have their travel documentation processed on time and so the title bout was shifted back a week.

Garap apologised to the all the sponsors and supporters for the inconvenience caused which he said was unfortunate but out of his control.

Garap confirmed that the two Thais were ready for their clashes with PNG’s best talent and the extension would only make them more eager to get in the ring.

Poonsang, who has some 480 fights to his name, has a point’s win over Garap in a fight earlier this year in Brisbane but the Simbu man has vowed to put on a title-winning performance in front of his home crowd.

Garap said preparations are on target with all the boys competing in the international fights ready to go against their respective opponents.

The fights will be at the Sports Inn, Port Moresby and gates will open at 9am with the under card bouts starting at noon.
