Kido is not hit by cholera

Letters, Normal

I REFER to recent reports on the cholera outbreak in NCD and Central.
While it is true that villages near Kido have reported deaths and increase in the number of cases, no one in our village has contracted cholera.
As such, we are shocked to read about reported cases in Kido.
Many of our people are now reluctant to sell fish and other goods at the markets because of the bad press.
People are sensitive to negative comments and if others were to learn that we are from Kido, they will shun us.
This has made life harder for my village community.
I am not boasting but I believe Kido is well protected.
The sea current flows in and out everyday so we do not have still or dirty water around our houses and beaches.
All our food and water is boiled before consumption so there is a slim chance of an outbreak.
Whoever is releasing reports on the cholera outbreak, please get your facts right before sending them to the media outlets.
You are making life hard for my village community.
