Kids observe ‘World Children’s Day’

CHILDREN from some settlements in Port Moresby and a nearby village on Tuesday celebrated World Children’s Day.
Dressed in traditional regalia, the children came from Eight-Mile, Garden Hill, Ranuguri and Porebada to present dramas and take part in other activities.
The celebration marked Universal Children’s Day which falls tomorrow.
World Vision and NCD Child Welfare arranged for children from respective areas to participate in the event with communities at Garden Hill.
The theme for the event was “End discrimination against children now and plan for better future for all”.
World Vision operations director Samaresh Nayak said: “Parents have big task in the
community and the environment that they belong to.
“Their job as a parent is to look after their children until they are mature enough to look after themselves.
“Children are the foundation of development in this country.
“Teach them good qualities of life and they will grow with it.”
Mr Nayak also said children were the gift from God and they were special in the family and most importantly were the future leaders.
“We must take good care of our children in every possible manner which the children can develop to take lead into the challenging world,” he said.
