THE law and order problem, on the rise in Enga’s Porgera district, needs everyone’s input to solve it, local MP Philip Kikala says.
Kikala, the Laigam-Porgera MP, said it was the responsibility of not only the government, police, Porgera Development Authority (PDA) but also members of the community.
“How can you just sit down and wait for things to change when people do not cooperate with the authorities or non-governmental organisation to maintain order or address the problem?” Kikala said.
“If people want changes and to live good lives, they have to address the law and order problem too. If we just wait around nothing will change.”
Nixon Mangape, chairman of the PDA, raised the same concern urging everyone to work together to change the district.
“People should not just sit around waiting for people in authority to do everything for them,” he said.
