GRADE 12 dux Nenema Kasemu has described his journey as a happy one and thanked his parents and teachers for their support.
“For most of us, the past four years had their challenges, but I wouldn’t have come this far without, my parents, my teachers and God,” Kasemu in his speech as dux of Kilakila Secondary School.
Kasemu also collected awards in English, biology, chemistry and personal development.
He said he sacrificed sleep and time with friends and family to study.
When he was in grade 10, his father left work which meant the family had to struggle financially, and during that time Kasemu became ill and almost did not make it to his final examinations.
Despite the setback, he believed that God would help him get through.
“I had faith in God and I knew he would still get me through tough times,” he said.
Fast forward to 2017, Kasemu’s faith has paid off.
Standing with his family, holding his awards and certificates in hand, he thanked the school staff, his family and God for being there for him in his journey.
Kasemu’s parents were speechless with pride of their son’s achievement
“This is a very emotional moment for me,” Kasemu’s mother, Anna said.
Kasemu was one of 291 grade 12 students who graduated at the school’s Nazal Hall last week.
