A YOUNG man died instantly when he was accidentally speared by a hunter at Dukaduka village in Western last Monday.

Provincial police commander Silva Sika said a group of men were chasing a wallaby on a hunting trip when one of them, Wari Zumi, 25, shot an arrow.

However, the arrow missed the animal and hit Biduami Sara, 17, instead, going through his right side and coming through the left side.

He said Sara’s relatives were angry and chased the Zumio’s relatives and the other hunters and burnt down houses in Dukaduka.

Police were sent to Dukaduka last Thursday.

He advised hunters in Western to be very careful when going in groups to hunt deer, wallabies, wild pigs and cassowaries.
