THE goal to developing Kimbe and New Guinea Islands football will come to fruition with a  technical regional centre, FIFA development official Glen Turner said.
Phase one of the project was the clearance of quite a significant area of land which had been already completed by local contractor, Kimbe Concrete.
According to Turner, the ground has been leveled and there will be two natural turf fields that will be developed to a good standard over a period of time.
The construction of the Kimbe Centre was funded by the FIFA Goal Project and will cater for the New Guinea Islands region.
The construction of three office buildings will have a technical regional office and two changing rooms.
Also built is another building for the public toilets and a small parking space for the users of the centre.
Kimbe Concrete are working around the clock to meet the deadline and are expected to complete the task in August.
According to Turner, the handing over of the facility will be done in the third week of June to allow for the establishment of the grass on the pitch and the inauguration is expected to be in late September.
Apart from this, there is a management plan in place and also a maintenance plan where the regional centre will have to be looked after by the grounds people.
The centre will help to groom young and raw talents for national and international duties.
This is just one part of the PNGFA’s overall national plan to lift the football standard.
