MORE than 700 health professionals gathered in Port Moresby last week for the Medical Society of Papua New Guinea’s 55th annual symposium.
The 56th symposium will be held in West New Britain next year with this year’s host handing the symposium shield with a cheque for K20,000 to the Kimbe General Hospital.
Medical Society president and UPNG school of medicine and health sciences executive dean Prof Nakapi Tefuarani thanked all sponsors, guest speakers, presenters, participants, society executives, subcommittees and life members for a successful symposium.
Tefuarani said hosting the symposium had required a significant amount of funding.
He said the organising committee acknowledged the support from Government, through Health and National Planning departments, and the National Gaming Control Board.
“The school of medicine and health sciences, Department of Health and Port Moresby General Hospital, led by symposium organising committee chairlady Kathy Johnston, have put together a very successful symposium for this year,” he said. “On behalf of the organising committee, executives and subcommittees, I acknowledge the support of our patron Richard Maru for ensuring that we received the funding targeted for this year’s symposium.
“I thank all the platinum, gold, silver and bronze sponsors including individuals and companies that gave in goods or kind.”
