Kimbe cricket selects 23-man training squad for tourney

THE Kimbe Cricket Association has selected a 23-man training squad to prepare for the Southern Cup which will be held in Popondetta, Northern, from April 15-18.
“We selected the squad after round five of our competition at the Kimbe Secondary School Oval,” association secretary Andrew Henry told The National. “Many players are senior, experienced players who have represented Kimbe.
“Some of these players are Daure Sam, Romley Kauyola, Nathan Henry, Christoper Henry, Donnely Wangipari and Ferral Ifuda.
“The squad have started training, which is led by Romley and Nathan, this week. It will be a T20 round-robin tournament so we are looking forward to it. Apart from our experienced players, we have some young talents in batsman Dudu Ifuda, and bowlers Aloisius Nani, Emmanuel Wendi and James Gelu.”
Henry said the women’s training squad was announced yesterday.
Meanwhile, Friends are leading the men and women’s divisions of the Kimbe competition.
