Kina Haus getting K50mil facelift

The landmark 15-storey Kina Haus in downtown Port Moresby, which until last year used to be known as Deloitte Tower, is being renovated at a cost of K50 million this year by owner Nasfund, says chief executive Ian Tarutia.
He said there had been no major renovation work on the building, which opened in 1999. The building has since been overshadowed by newer buildings, such as Ela Beach Tower, Grand Papua Hotel and Stanley Hotel and Suites.
“It uses the architectural design of the 1990s,” Tarutia said. “We have to modernise the building. I want this building to come back and retain its mantle as the premier building in town. This is a K50 million project.”
Tarutia said Deloitte lost the naming rights to the building when it moved out last year, with Kina Finance now taking over this honour.
He said he expected work to take a year to complete.
