Kirakira One stay unbeaten in Motu-Koita netball comp

KIRAKIRA One remain unbeaten in the senior division of the Moresby South Motu-Koita netball tournament after the third round of matches at Koki’s Southside Fitness Centre on Saturday.
Tournament director Asi Mou told The National that competition for the opening rounds were progressing well with Kirakira and Pari leading setting the pace.
“We have Pari One who remain unbeaten in the Under-21 division and, likewise, Kirakira One in the senior division,” she said.
“Kirakira One have been on top of their game since the start of competition and we have our eyes on a few players there as well as a few in the intermediate division.
“Marilyn Tulapi, from Mahuru, has been an impressive performer from the intermediate division as well as a few players from Vabukori and it’s really good to see the participation from villages..”
Meanwhile, the main match for the seniors saw Vabukori Two beat Mahuru One 19-14 in a tight contest.
An impressive show from Vabukori’s Nancy Gerea at midcourt saw goals going their way through shooter Ila Henao while Mahuru’s Agnes Laho Tulapi responded for her side who were trailing 9-10 at halftime.
Vabukori’s defence, through goalkeeper Taravatu Barry, proved the difference against Mahuru as momentum swung in favour of Henao and Gerea in the late stages of the match with Vabukori bagging 19 goals to Mahuru’s 14.
