KIUNGA Town Basketball Association executives have suspended the games for two weekends after clubs participating in the competition failed to pay up their affiliation.
Association vice-chairman Mai-Ima Pe’e said the deadline for the clubs to pay lapsed last Sunday (June 12).
It was only the first round of the competition but most clubs had failed to pay, forcing the association to suspend the games.
Pe’e warned if clubs failed to pay their affiliation within two weeks the suspension would be extended until all fees were paid.
The nine clubs participating in the competition are Kamex, Rock Dolphins, Bismarck, Gipox, BFC, FPML, KVC, KSS and Zeros.
Pe’e said the association was focusing on bringing up local talents in the Kiunga area to represent the province in the next year’s PNG Games in Kokopo, East New Britain.
