Kiunga soldiers’ constant partying a real disgrace
The National, Tuesday March 25th, 2014
WHAT are the primary duties of the PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) living in the Kiunga Defence Force Forward Operating Base?
I always ask myself this when I see them driving around in flashy vehicles. Obviously, anyone can tell that the soldiers are not performing as expected of them.
These group of soldiers are hosting dances every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights within the PNGDF parameters, where females are allowed in free while men are charged fees.
As a result, a lot of social and family problems have emerged while prostitution and transmission of sexual diseases have increased.
There have also been a higher circulation and consumption of marijuana, more deaths, ethnic clashes, noise pollution as well as the sale of beer by soldiers despite an alcohol ban here.
What is wrong with these army officers or soldiers?
They are supposed to be performing their mandated duties and that is to protect our people and our country.
What will be the future of Kiunga and North Fly district?
Will it be a town of criminals and prostitutes?
This is a real disgrace.
To the commissioner, the people of Kiunga and North Fly call on you to address this matter urgently and please make it seen that you are concerned by taking action under your new regime.
We have had enough.
