Kiwis, ADB give K1.2mil for Bialla hydro upgrade

PNG Power Ltd has acknowledge the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and New Zealand government for funding the upgrade of Lake Hargy Hydro Station in Bialla, West New Britain.
PNG Power Ltd (PPL) acting managing director Carolyn Blacklock thanked the two organisations for their funding of K1.2 million and support for the project and other projects.
The contract agreement was signed by PPL, Dongfang Electric International Corporation (DEC) and AG Investment Ltd yesterday.
“In this tough times when PNG is facing economic difficulties, PNG Power as a government department is also facing similar struggle,” Blacklock said.
“Therefore, such partnership are very crucial for PNG in terms of future development and empowerment.
“Most of all, it’s not about the money and generous support only but also the partnership of working together, shoulder to shoulder, in providing technical advice and expertise in doing our work which is very important”
The contract is a joint venture of DEC and AG Investment to renovate the Lake Hargy Hydro station in West New Britain.
