KK Kingston last week launched a new PNG-made KleenSorb Ultra Soft toilet tissue.
National marketing manager Christopher Elphick said KleenSorb was already available in major retailers in Port Moresby and Lae. Consumers in other parts of PNG would have access to KleenSorb by August.
“The new brand, proudly produced in Lae by KK Kingston Limited, is the result of careful marketing and consumer research,” he said.
“PNG consumer expectations are rising. The demand is for affordable quality. We wanted to create a product equal to that produced internationally and positioned at a price point that would meet the disposable income of a large segment of urban PNG families.”
Elphick said KK Kingston:
- Was established in 1972 in Lae, Morobe;
- Was one of the largest PNG manufacturers of chemicals, paper, plastics, cooking oil and other goods distributed in the country;
- employed more than 800 staff, 98 per cent of whom are Papua New Guineans;
- began manufacturing retail and commercial paper products in 1996;
- operated the largest paper manufacturing plant in Papa New Guinea;
- in 2015 produced more than 14.5 million retail rolls;
- Paper factory is run by about 40 Papua New Guinean staff in Lae.
