Knifed over expired chicken

A MAN allegedly killed another at Mt Hagen in Western Highlands because he received only K30 for some expired cocktails he had supplied to the victim to sell.
According to the provincial police commander Chief Insp Jacob Kamiak, the victim, from Dobel village, Welmasta Maki, in his 20s, was stabbed in the thigh by another man, Don, and bled to death.
Don is charged with wilful murder.
“The suspect, from Kandep, Enga, did not give us his second name,” Chief Insp Kamiak said.
He said Maki was stabbed because Don did not like the amount of money from the sales.
“Don works at a local supermarket in Mt Hagen and his bosses had told him that some chicken cocktails were at their expiry date and he was to throw out the box,” Chief Insp Kamiak said. “However, Don took the chicken pieces to Dobel where he advised Maki to sell the product.
“In the afternoon, he returned expecting to receive a lot of money from the sales of the chicken cocktails, instead, Maki gave him only K30, saying that the chicken had gone bad and there was no way to get money as the smell did not allow any sales of the chicken.”
“In anger, Don took a knife and stabbed Maki who died from loss of blood. Don was arrested and is in custody.”

  • We, Black people have problem in our evolutionary gene. We do things that defy common sense. Every where you go it is evident. Killing someone over a rotten meat is just one of the incidents.
    Black people who call themselves educated profession will wind down their expensive vehicle window and spit out mouthful of betel nut stain on paved walkways and roads.
    Nothing will change us if common sense isn’t our fundamental.

  • This is an attitude problem. The victim should also bring back the damaged or expired cocktail back to Don as a proof. This small problem even led to a death of a person. The supermarket owner should be responsible for all those goods in the shop. If two or three weeks away before the expiry date, discount the items so that at least there is money being made out of it. This is serious and consumers please choose carefully, especially the expiry dates of items before purchasing.

  • Is the PPC the subject of this report? No. Why have his photo inset. Put the photo of the alleged or suspected murderer. The shop owners should have better ways of disposing over meat like chicken meant, pork etc. Have the sho owner arrested too. Shop owners are the prime cause for sending the murderer with the box of cocktails

  • PLEASE CAN THE PPC ISSUE A DIRECT ORDER TO HIS RESPONSIBLE OFFICERS TO IMMEDIATELY INTERROGATE AND MAKE ARRESTS TO THE OWNERS AND BOSSES OF THE SUPERMARKET WHERE THE CULPRIT WORKED? IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SUPERMARKET TO DISPOSE OFF THOSE BAD GOODS, ESPECIALLY PROTEINS AT THE RIGHT SECURED PLACES WHERE HUMANS CAN NOT BE ABLE TO FIND OUT AND SCAVENGE ON.
    IT IS SO STUPID TO GIVE SUCH SPOILED GOODS TO A SIMPLE EMPLOYEE FOR DISPOSAL, FOR THIS PARTICULAR PERSON IS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING EXTRA TO EARN. SO WHEN GIVEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS, HE THINKS IT IS HIS LUCK SO HE GOES TO SELL THOSE STAFF WITHOUT THINKING THIS WILL DEFINITELY CAUSE SERIOUS SICKNESS TO CONSUMERS. EVEN PEOPLE CAN DIE OF FOOD POISONING.
    PLEASE PPC, MAKE NECESSARY INTERROGATION AND ARREST THOSE SUPERMARKET BOSSES.

  • All three parties had a role to play, all three failed, lets talk about the best ideas we can put in place so there is no occurrence. .It is more important not to take sides, but best options we can apply so we don’t face it again.

    1. the shop owner should have disposal plan inplace for his expired items.
    2. should have been disposed immediately at the rubbish dump or designated dump area.
    3. should have openly displaced the expired cocktails and if anyone was interested then he/she can choose to check/buy at a very low discount price.
    4. should have done proper stock-take of all expired items and displaced to the general public 3-4 days prior to disposing them at a low price.

  • The life of a person is more than a piece of chicken meat, we the highlands people need to completely change our behaviour and attitude, we do not have to be aggressive all the time and use common sense to prevail….

  • expiry goods and its disposals are made at the recommendations of health inspectors. where the health inspectors of hagen city? pls investigate and take legal action before the public health is affected.
