KOIARI Knights will be counting on the experience of SP Hunter Adam Korave when they face Goilala Karukas in the Agarobe Cup A-grade grand final in Port Moresby on Sunday.
Koiari have dominated the Hardware Haus-sponsored competition and last week’s 18-14 win over Rigo puts them in a great position to claim victory at the Murray Barracks Oval.
But Karukas, under the guidance of Dabari pair Pio Allen and Rex Kaupa, will be looking to spoil the party for Koiari in what is shaping up as a thrilling encounter.
After edging Aroma Coast 10-6 for a spot in the grand final, Karukas will be relying on their solid defences to gain an upper hand over a more composed and structured Koiari outfit.
Goilala head coach Tony Lauman said the mistakes in his side’s win last week were obvious but he was confident of a better performance in the grand final.
“We lost a lot of possession (against Aroma) and we know now what we have to do,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aroma face Koiari in the Under-20 grand final.
