Kobla new SBDC boss

COMMERCE and Industry Minister Gabriel Kapris has announced the appointment of Diri Kobla as managing director of Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC).
The National Executive Council meeting last week confirmed Mr Kobla.
The position has been vacant since the former managing director Brian Komon resigned to contest the 2007 elections.
Mr Kapris thanked Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare who is chairman of the NEC in approving the appointment.
He said the appointment fulfills the Government’s desire to ensure persons of merit and high caliber are appointed to lead key Government agencies responsible for implementing strategic Government policy directions aimed at spurring economic and social development.
Sir Michael commended Mr Kapris for providing strong political leadership to see key agencies under his ministry were given the support to achieve targets set by the  Government.
“As minister responsible for SBDC, I have no doubt in the ability of Mr Kobla and his team in assisting the Government meet specific objectives of the medium term development strategy and small to medium business (SME) policy and its export driven economic development plan and the recentl-launched Vision 2050,” Mr Kapris said.
