MANY educated people use their knowledge to abuse the nation’s resources and are not interested in serving the country, Sam Koim says.
Koim, the chairman of the Task Force Sweep, was speaking on Wednesday at the graduation for Grade 10 and Grade 12 pupils at the Kitip Secondary School in Dei district, Western Highlands.
Koim, a former student of the school, said some educated elites failed to get their priorities right and became millionaires overnight.
He told the pupils, parents and people that corruption deprived the people of basic goods and services.
Koim told the students that there would be many temptations waiting for them, but urged them not to lose sight of their Christian belief.
He told the pupils that they were the ones to change Papua New Guinea.
He told the people that education was the place to invest their money and resources in.
Koim said he was happy to see some improvements in the school.
Meanwhile, local businessman Jacob Dry urged students to look after themselves and keep their bodies holy, as taught by the Bible.
Dry urged them to avoid bad habits like smoking, chewing betel nuts and drinking homebrew.
