Kokofa-Cats, Dockers battle for spot

Sports

PORT Moresby AFL goes into its preliminary final at the Colts Oval tomorrow with Kokofa-Cats facing the Dockers for the right to meet West Eagles in next week’s grand final.
Kokofa-Cats are coming off an impressive 20-point win over the Dockers last week and they will be out to prove that the victory was no fluke.
The Dockers had all their big guns on the paddock last week but failed to live up to expectation and allowed the fitter Kokofa-Cats to run rings around them for a 64-44 victory.
The Dockers forwards will need to improve on their kicking if they are to have the last laugh.
Kokofa-Cats will count on their speed with Bena Michael, Joe Ginara, Hapeo Bobogi, Obert Muri, Neil Malabag, and Jeffery Aihi leading the way.
The Dockers will be banking on Emmanuel Tupia, Laurie Logo, Emmaus Wartovo, Archie Mai Jr, Peter Lavong, Hosea Wartovo and Brendan Bola while Jason Logi, Junior Luke Savere and Thaddeus Wilket should provide support.
An interesting duel will be between two young ruckmen in Dockers’ Sebastian Bai and Kokofa-Cats’ Curtly Ila.
Both of them are superb ball winners in aerial contests and they will have their clean pairs of hands busy to keep their sides in the contest.
Dockers’ Kelly Kaugla is a prolific ball runner who will be hard to contain.
Kokofa-Cats appear to have the edge but all-round knowledge and finals experience should do wonders for the Dockers.
