THE people of Komo, the home to the multi-billion kina LNG project, have welcomed the decision of the management of Bank South Pacific to open a branch there.
Local MP Francis Potape said the decision of the bank was welcome news for the 20,000 people. There has not been a banking service in the area for more than 20 years.
Potape said landowners, employees of the LNG project, public servants and the public would find it convenient instead of having to travel to Mendi, Mt Hagen and Port Moresby.
Even better news was that the bank has decided to establish ATM and Eftpos machines at certain locations such as the local trade store.
He called on the people to respect the bank, its properties and the employees.
