Komo-Margarima treasurer charged with stealing K2mil

The district treasurer for Komo-Margarima was arrested and charged in Mendi last Friday by Task Force Sweep team after he was alleged to have misappropriated funds for the Komo-Margarima district.
Francis Ank, 45, of Wogia village, Mendi, Southern Highlands, was charged with one count of misappropriation of K2 million belonging to the Komo-Margarima district.
He was again charged on Saturday with 21 se­parate charges for misappropriating K330,000 belonging to the Komo-Margarima district.
Of the 21 charges, 10 were for misappropriation, 10 for conspiracy to defraud the state and one count of abuse of office.
He was brought to Mendi and detained since last Thursday.
According to the Task Force Sweep Team, Ank would have to arrange a lawyer to obtain his bail through the courts.
He will appear for mention at the Mendi District Court on Nov 24.
