The chairman of the PNG Football Supporters Club, Dr Miok Komolong, is calling on residents in Port Moresby to pack the Sir John Guise Stadium when PNG take on Samoa in the OFC Nations Cup final pool game on Sunday.
Komolong said PNG needed to win by more than five goals and for New Caledonia and Tahiti to either draw for PNG to make the semi-finals.
“While we are confident, PNG must not take Samoa lightly as they will want to make things hard for PNG and they will play to be in the top three for a placing in the third stage of FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers next year,” Komolong said. He said this was an important game for  the Papua New Guinea Kapuls and wanted all PNG soccer supporters and others to go for a good Sunday afternoon game and cheer their team.
“Our boys performed well against top-class sides like Tahiti and New Caledonia, though we are all heartbroken with the draw with Tahiti,” he said.
“Let’s give it to the boys as they have done very well and we owe it to them to lend our support.”
Club patron Ben Micah earlier in the week urged supporters and leaders to back the team.
