STAR Alwin Komolong has foregone a football scholarship in the United States of America to return home to vie for a spot in the national soccer squad for the Pacific Games in Port Moresby, in July.

The young Karkar Island lad played for FC Port Moresby before he went to the US on a soccer scholarship.

But his love for his country saw him secure a year’s leave so he could return and pursue his dream to play for the country at the Pacific Games.

Komolong, with his younger brother Felix, are training with Madang FC for the 2015 National Soccer League season.

Madang team manager Tweedy Malagian yesterday confirmed Komolong was among top Madang players who had returned home to play for their province.

Malagian said there were other big name players in the camp but he would not name them until the team was finalised next week for submission to the NSL office in Port Moresby.

Madang will be coached by former international striker Francis Moiyap.

Other prodigal sons of Madang in Neil Hans and Jamal Seeto have moved to Port Moresby to join FC Port Moresby and Hekari United respectively.

Seeto, the fearless striker, has joined other Hekari recruits in Simon Emmanuel, Jeremy Yasasa, Tommy Sammy and Solomon Islander Alick Maemae.

Across the Bismark Sea, Admiralty FC is expected to return with a big bang.

The Chique Posman-managed team has signed on another young prospect in Rodney Mobiha.

Mobiha, who served his apprenticeship with Eastern Stars, has joined the club this season.

The newcomer, Lae City Dwellers, have made some big recruits in Nigel Dabinyaba, Raymond Gunemba, Jampeth Tiampo, Valentine Nelson, Roland Warisan and Matheson Nasa, while FC Port Moresby have secured Neil Hans from Hekari United for 2015.
