FORWARD Benji Kot is eyeing opportunities at other Digicel Cup franchises after withdrawing from the Gulf Isou squad this week.
Kot told The National yesterday that he decided to make a break from the Isou after playing for the side over the last two seasons.
The Western Highlander said although he wanted to continue playing for the Isou, he wanted to see if he could get better terms elsewhere.
“I’ve indicated to them (Isou management) that other clubs were interested,” he said. “I already made up my mind to leave the club (Isou) and try to take my talent somewhere (to other clubs).
Kot said several clubs had already expressed interest in his services.
“Several clubs sent me their contract terms which I told Isou management about but so far they haven’t responded.”
Kot, who was named in the SP Hunters 2020 train-on squad, the second time to be included in the squad, said players needed to be properly looked after by clubs because they invested their time and resources to training and needed a fair return on that effort.
“I want to play for the team, but the continuous ignorance of not looking into improving me and my teammates’ contract made me feel uncomfortable to stay, so the best way for me is looking for a better contract elsewhere,” Kot said.
Kot said he was a pioneer member of the Isou club and he wore the jersey with pride but he needed to consider his options in order to get the most out of his time playing the game.
Kot said was interested in playing for the Kimbe Cutters which was one of the clubs that had expressed interest in his services.
“The Cutters are an exciting club with many young players and raw talents, so it will be a good place for me to grow. But I will still give my best to whichever team that I play for this season.”
