KPHL still waiting

Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) says it is yet to receive the acquittals from its K1 million sponsorship of the National Soccer League (NSL) last season.
KPHL managing director Wapu Sonk said nothing had been forthcoming since the matter was brought to public attention.
When asked for an update on the acquittals, Sonk said KPHL had “written to them (NSL) advising that we (KPHL) are still waiting for the report and that’s where it is at the moment”.
PNG Football Association (PNGFA) general secretary Dimirit Mileng said an update on the acquittals was being furnished by the NSL board.
But when asked about the report, board chairman Benny Popoitai told The National that it was something that would be answered by PNGFA president John Kapi Natto.
Earlier this year, KPHL had pledged K3 million for the country’s premier soccer competition with the first payment of K1 million given to run the competition last season.
It is understood that K200,000 in prize money is yet to be paid to last season’s top-four.
Champions Lae City are yet to receive K100,000, runner-ups Hekari United K50,000, third-placed Morobe United K30,000 and Eastern Stars K20,000.
Meanwhile, the new season is expected to kick off on Dec 7.
