FORMER Kumul Arnold Krewanty is now a national rugby league selector, PNGRFL chairman Don Fox confirmed yesterday.

Krewanty has been included as the Southern Zone representative on the national panel and joins chairman David Tienamu (Highlands), Steve Malum (Northern) and Samson Clayton Well (Islands).

Fox said the decision was made at a board meeting in Mt Hagen last Saturday to ensure all regions had a representative on the national selection panel.

“Arnold picks himself really and his addition was voted on unanimously by the board and warmly welcomed by the national selectors,” he said.

“They will be the eyes and ears for Mal (Meninga) and Adrian (Lam) and they have a very important role to play in ensuring we have the right players to deliver a strong performance at the World Cup.

“The board believes we have a well respected, very good and strong panel with a wealth of experience and knowledge.

“The selectors will meet with Mal and Adrian in Goroka at the Team Kumul camp and discuss what is required to ensure the best possible side is selected to represent Papua New Guinea at the upcoming World Cup in October and we have full confidence in them to get the job done.”
