KUMUL Telikom Holdings Limited (KTHL), through its bmobile flagship, has team up with the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) as the official communications partner for the 2021 National Soccer League (NSL) season.
The sponsorship, valued at K270,000, includes short message service (SMS) broadcast, mobile gadgets as well as awards for player of the match and golden boot winners for the Southern and Northern Conferences.
Telikom Retail acting chief executive Amos Tepi said KTHL had partnered PNGFA for the 2020 Women’s National Soccer League (WNSL) and they were pleased to support the men’s league this year.
“Today is a milestone for us as KTHL and also on the bmobile front,” he said during yesterday’s sponsorship announcement.
“(The) K270,000 sponsorship is through support in kind to get this sport there.
“We want to make it (soccer) more popular from the city to the towns and even the districts.
“This sport brings communities together, so it’s important that (through) our partnership, (we will) reach out to all the people in the country.”
The SMS broadcast will see text blasts sent to bmobile users with times and venues of the NSL matches.
For every match in both conferences, the player of the match will be awarded a mobile gadget while the golden boot award will be presented to the top goal scorer of each conference at the end of the season.
The NSL committee will be receiving communication support while the manager and referees will receive tablets.
PNGFA general secretary Pius Letenge acknowledged KTHL and bmobile for supporting the NSL.
“You coming on board as a sponsor shows confidence in football in promoting and instilling leadership skills among players,” he said.
