Kua has a visison

Letters

I AM writing in response to Graiku Nem’s criticism of the member for Sinasina-Yongomugl (SSY), MP Kerenga Kua, for not giving financial assistance to SSY tertiary students but willing to sponsor four student pilots.
First, we know that SSY was rated last in PNG in terms of service delivery prior to 2012.
Preceding governments had terribly failed to deliver basic social services.
MP Kua was trying to deliver those services with the little money the district received. There was nothing extra for tertiary students who should really be the responsibility of the parents.
For instance, until Kua came into power people from Mai and Gunagi had never seen a coaster bus on their doorstep.
Secondly, you asked why he helped the four student pilots.
SSY district is rated number one in terms of higher education in PNG and they are working in every walk of life, except flying a plane. So, the district under Kua is trying to make a breakthrough.
Also, unlike other courses, pilot training fees are high, so the district should provide subsidies so that a pilot may carry the SSY flag for the first time.
Finally, you are making comparisons with other districts in Chimbu. SSY, unlike other districts in the province, does not have access to any government privileges because of MP Kua’s place in the opposition.
MP Kua is not looking at things the way we see it.
He is different.
He is trying his best to do one thing at a time.
He will start paying tuition fees once the basic services have been delivered.
