SINASINA-Yongomugl MP Kerenga Kua has challenged the people in his district in Chimbu to free up land for development projects and to allow government services to flow into rural areas.
Replying to a question at the Grades 10 and 12 graduation at Muaina Secondary School on Wednesday, Kua urged the people to free up land.
He said he would do his part as their parliamentarian to bring service and build schools, health centres, roads, bridges, communication facilities and agricultural projects.
“I am giving you my 100% commitment to serve you. I will not discharge my responsibilities from a distance, I will live up to your expectations and make Sinasina-Yongomugl district shine like a star,” Kua said.
“However, since everything happens on the land, I urge you to free up your land for development as there will be no compensation payment for any land.
“Do not disturb government assets such as district vehicles, ambulance, school and police vehicles serving the people.”
Kua announced that for the first time in the district they would spend K34 million next year on priority areas to improve service delivery.
He said the priority would be capacity-building for district public servants because they would require manpower to move the district.
He said they would spend K9 million to rehabilitate all transport infrastructure before they embarked on education and health infrastructure.
“For the first time, village court officials will be issued with uniforms and will receive a minimal fortnightly wage,” Kua said.
