THANK you, Dr Scott Dooley, for your response (Oct 16) to my letter regarding the Kudjip Nazarene Hospital (KNH) not accepting patients from outside Jiwaka, especially the Melpa people of Mt Hagen.
The country is in dire need of world class medical services.
The services offered by the doctors there are of world standard.
Doctors would interview patients and understand their needs.
They also provide proper counselling and medication in a timely manner.
They also never let patients wait too long.
They are always around to attend to their patients.
The problems or limitations faced by KNH raised by Dr Dooley must be addressed by the government.
The state must also fund and take control of other Christian health services in the country which have been running on their own for a long time.
The management of KNH needs to review its policies and accept all patients and treat them equally.
KNH needs to build infrastructure in terms of wards and recruit doctors from overseas.
With Jiwaka having its own provincial status, KNH could become one of the best in the highlands region for referrals and saving lives.
I urge the Jiwaka government to also look into the issues the hospital is facing and provide necessary support and funding to overcome its limitations so it can provide world class health care to all our people.
