Kulang’s case moved for security reasons

THE Goroka District Court has transferred a case of unlawful killing against former State Minister Tobias Kulang to the Kundiawa committal court for security reasons.
Magistrate Gerard Vetunawa transferred the case to the Kundiawa Committal Court for mention on December 11. Kulang’s K3000 bail was also extended.
Kulang was the former Minister for Tourism Arts and Culture and former MP for Kundiawa-Gembogl.
He is facing two counts of unlawful killing and for taking part in riot.
He was alleged to have instigated a riot in Kundiawa town during the counting period of the general election in which two men died.
A vehicle and a house were also burnt.
The violence extended to Kulang’s Gembogl village where homes were burnt and properties destroyed.
The Mt Wilhelm High School was forced to close.
Grades 12 and 10 students did not have their graduation this year.
