Kulunga welcomes govt’s K53m

THE government’s extra funding of K53 million for the police force will greatly help in its modernisation programme, says Commissioner Tom Kulunga.

He said the money would be allocated to key projects in the constabulary.

He said the K53 million funding was part of the government’s K276 million allocation over the next five years.

The allocation of the K53 million 

is:

Increase in recruits (two intakes)  K6.8 million;

Housing project for new officer recruits K3 million;lIncrease in salary K7.5 million;

Bomana civil works K8.3 million;

Civil works K5 million;

Capital works K3.5 million;

Lae training cells K3.5 million;

Forensic and Fingerprint Office works K3.1 million;

Renovation  of  Boroko police station cells K1.1 million; and

Renovation of provincial police cells K3 million.

Commissioner Kulunga said the programme was an important government initiative.
