Kumul Minerals Holdings clears air on MD position

MANAGING director of Kumul Minerals Holdings Ltd (KMHL) Dr John Kuwimb says he is still occupying the position.
He said this in response to reports that he had been replaced by former Treasury secretary Dairi Vele.
“Firstly, the allegation that the Kumul Minerals board terminated my contract and was seeking to appoint Dairi Vele as managing director is not correct,” he said.
“I know Vele as a very intelligent and experienced Papua New Guinean with relevant industry experience.
“If he applies and is appointed managing director, then he deserves it and he will have my full support as a director.
“The truth is that my contract will expire on Aug 18.
“The board had the opportunity to consider the matter and advised me that instead of renewing my contract, we will have it advertised and make a new recruitment.
“There is nothing wrong with that decision.
“I have the liberty to apply.”
Kuwimb commended board chairman Nellie James and members following due process and said their governance had seen the company progress well since its establishment.
“I do not like Papua New Guineans slinging mud at each other and making allegations and assumptions that tarnish the others’ reputation and good name.
“This must come to a stop.
“We must build this country on love and support for one another.”
